DECA Leadership
My Journey
After being part of the student council since elementary school and serving as a student council president in 8th grade, I became passionate about leading through student-led organizations.

As I was getting ready for high school, I learned that DECA, as a career development competition, gives high school students the path to explore a variety of fields within the business and leadership realm. As I evaluated Harker for high school admissions, the Harker DECA chapter stood out as one of the key factors to consider. I started participating in DECA in my freshman year and became the most competitively successful freshman at Harker at the state level by double-qualifying for the international conference. This was a strong motivation to not only continue competing at DECA but also to pay forward to the incoming freshmen in the following year. In my Sophomore year, I served as a Director of Competitions in the Harker DECA officer team.
Harker DECA is a fully student-led organization comprising about 200 student members. The DECA officer team is responsible for training new members, managing annual competitors' logistics and operations for all the members, and building next year's officer team. As a Director of Competitions in the year 2022-23, my focus was to improve the chapter's mentorship program, and our chapter saw a 30% increase in the number of mentors with our 40 mentors for the year. This was highly encouraging for the new members, and we saw a positive impact on the chapter's success during the competitive season.

For the year 2023-24, this year, I serve as the VP of Competitions, leading a team of three directors. I aspire to be the CEO of the chapter in my senior year, 2024-25.
